AT A GLANCE

The Chekyad Grama Panchayat is located at Parakkadavu in the Thooneri Block of Vadakara Taluk, on the northernmost tip of Kozhikode District. The Panchayat, which spans $23.68 \text{ sq. km}$, is bordered on the north by the Kandivathukkal hills, which are part of the Western Ghats mountain range, and the Kannavam Forest. The Chettakkandipuzha river originates in these hills, which have tourism potential, and flows along the northern boundary. The Choyithode river passes through the central part of the Panchayat and is the main water source that people rely on for drinking water and agriculture. The geography of the Panchayat includes mountains, hills, slopes, plains, and paddy fields. The Panchayat shares its border with Valayam Panchayat to the east and Mundathodu (Kannur District) to the west.
